Load Break switch is a common piece of equipment in an electrical substation to turn off and on the power to the transformer. It is used to isolate the substation from the distribution incoming line. Generally, a 12 kV load break switch is placed before a 12kV/415V transformer so that in case of a shutdown, it can be turned off and the main distribution line to other users does not interrupt. It is a mechanical switch protection system that is cheaper than a Vacuum circuit breaker.
